Who is decorating outside for the Christmas season?

Around here, the lights go up the day after Thanskgiving.

I bought some LED lights last night. They should more than pay for themselves in reduced electrical bill, plus they are not supposed to cause problems with burnouts and should last alot longer.

They were a pretty good deal at Lowe's - a reel of 200 lights was $25.

Hopefully I won't break my neck putting them up.

We are! We haven't invested in the LED's yet. I will once some of these we have start to go out.

We like to light our soon after Thanksgiving as well. We have hung them prior if the weather is nice, but just don't turn them on. Ours will be on a timer, so they turn on and off automatically.

We have three strings that go across the front of the house, several strings to light our three bushes and another set for our railing. We use white lights only.

I have a fairly big oak tree I like to light up too - it's about 20 ft high. Not quite sure how to do it.

They make tools for stringing lights up in high places. You might check those out.

The best part of Christmas is decorating the house inside out with lights.

          I love it...

DH got our lights up yesterday. We still have the single-strand mini-bulbs, and don't do all that many lights. DH went out and looked at LEDs, but I've got a real thing about the lights that sparkle in the different patterns (running, twinkling, fading, etc.). He found that those were not available in the mini-bulbs- at least not at our local stores. Fortunately ours are still in pretty good shape.

I was surprised at how well lights were selling this year. It looked like the stores were probably going to be pretty well stripped by Saturday night.
