I couldn't help laughing when I saw this photo. Sometimes humor is all you have left when prices get so high.

I saw a sign go from $2.43 to $2.95. Then the person with the remote stopped and started changing the diesel sign. I'm still not sure what they were doing because gas is not that high (yet).

But it was quite frightening to be driving along and see the price going up, up, up. Especially knowing that we live in an area that requires us to drive 5-6 hours if we want to see family (and that's if we're meeting halfway).

You are seeing the resilient, positive attitude of the American public...when in bad times, see the humour of it all. Bless them

haha, you Americans have had cheap oil for too long. Wait until you get up to British prices, then you can start complaining about high gas prices

I saw a sign that said "Firstborn" - heh. "We just want your firstborn, that's all. Premium or Regular?"

Wonder if U.S. gas stations will start switching away from gallons to liters like what's done in Europe. People might not feel as bad paying $0.75/liter (at least for awhile....)

Our diesel is now over $3 a gallon. Our gas is at $2.98. I have a 48 gallon tank, OUCH,

Adjusting for inflation and the rise in average wages you'll find gas is cheaper now than in the seventies or eighties. In the seventies you could not even get the gas many times. As supply increases to maximize profit the supply will grow and thus there will eventually be more supply than demand. When that point has been reached the price will start to fall.

What a cute sign.... Right now, I guess I'm so disgusted with it all, I don't care how much it costs. I have to have it so, I have to bear it- arm, leg, firstborn... whatever.

I'm in England every year, and let me tell you, its no joy to pay .75/liter. Looks cheap, but once you pay 30 pounds to fill up a tiny, tiny car, its not so fun. Add in the exchange rate and we were paying $60 a fill up last Christmas. The cars were so tiny that it took us two cars to go anywhere as a family, so we ended up staying in the very small village the whole two weeks. Yuck.

Price is more like £0.95 per litre now and it could be that because America enjoys driving big old gas guzzling monsters that oil is running out and the price is gushing to such extreme prices?

I can't see it getting any better so you better start thinking of changes to your lifestyle. Oil production is heading downwards outside of Opec and it's unlikely to continue rising within Opec with the huge increase in demand from nations such as China and India, not to mention America.

Try and imagine a world without oil. Energy might be able to be found from renewables, nuclear, coal etc. What about transport? What about oil used in manufacturing? Might be prudent to invest in a jumbo size rickshaw to cart your folks around
