Not financially related, but Peter Jennings passed away...I am in shock. He was 67 - I thought he was in his 40's! I don't even watch the news all that much, I read about it online, but it's something that has always been there for my lifetime, and it is saddening.

I know he retired from news in April. It didn't take long...he must have been in end stage of the disease in April. So young too!

Sincere condolences to his family. He was an excellent newscaster.

Very sad, he looked like he was in his early 50's to me, but has looked "sicker" in later apperances. I found him as a very calming voice during tehe 9/11 tradegy. Just another reason for poeple to NEVER start smoking or to QUIT if you do!!!! RIP Peter Jennings,

His voice has always been a part of my life. As a news junky, i"ve always been exposed to the evening news, and watched it as I grew up and watch it now. I might not be in a place to watch TV when it comes on, but I always heard him.

I'm sad that cancer took him, and especially a somewhat preventable form. Smoking is hazardous to your health- do we really need yet another example?

Rest in peace Mr. Jennings. You will be missed.

I know it is sad I also thought he was younger. I cried when I heard it last night & dh thought I was crazy but when you have seen him on tv for so long you do feel like you know him & it seems like I just heard he found out he had the cancer & now he is gone. Just another reminder of how fast things can change!

Lung cancer victims don't have a great survival rate. A strong case for kicking the habit if you have one. My grandmother died of lung cancer at age 89, even tho she quit smoking decades earlier. Most people don't get lung cancer if they don't smoke, unless they were exposed to asbesthos or live with a smoker.

My MIL died of Lung Cancer. I just heard on the news that Dana Reeve has been diagnosed with lung cancer. She's only 44. They also said that lung cancer kills more women than most other kinds of cancer. Plus 10 to 15% who get it have never smoked. Very scary.

Dana Reeve has never smoked either. She came forward because a tabloid was about to. How sad-- like she has not suffered enough. Sending good thoughts her way...
