  • Should i sell my laptop?

So i have been posting a few things lately as i am planning to be debt free within 8 months. I am very excited about this as i start uni next year and i am able to work full time (income of 1600 a fortnight!) and i think going in debt free earning that kind of money will be a gold mine for savings! My problem is i brought a new laptop on interest free. I use it a lot for assignments as i am currently in another course and my old laptop died on me. This laptop cost me around $2500. The retail price was 1800 but add on more warranty and everything and boy does it built up. Now i am making montly repayments of $108 which i plan on paying in double or tripple to pay it off quicker. I am doubting myself but as i feel i should have brought somthing cheaper but the only reason i got a high end model was i need it to last me a few years of uni and it have decent speed and everything. I am able to sell this laptop for 2300 to a mate should i sell it and get something cheaper for cash? or just enjoy my life as i know i have a plan in place?

Are you the same Australian nurse who earlier this year was getting ready to go to university, bought a new laptop, and almost immediately asked the forum if the laptop it should be sold? If that was not you and you would like to read those threads I think I could locate them for you.

I don't think you need such an expensive laptop for school. You may have been a bit impulsive to have bought that particular one. I understand that you may have needed to buy one quickly for your current class.

Why would your friend pay $2,300 for a laptop that retails for $1,800.

I don't see a problem with you keeping this laptop. Selling it means taking a $200 loss right away. You will have it paid off in no time at all, plus it is at 0% so you aren't wasting money on interest. Keep it. Accelerate the payments and tell your friend to save himself $500 and buy one retail.
