Yesterday in the Wall Street Journal there was an article about scant (means: little) chemicals affecting the endocrine system, destroying the sperm of our males, affecting mentality. The studies were conducted out of Harvard, paid for by chemical companies, to REVIEW the current research (done by the chemical companies) and submit the response. The researcher was found UNETHICAL recently and the BIAS is evident. Today, in the Wall Street Journal there is an article about children being made ill at school due to pesticides and chemical use in neighboring buildings/farms. Mind you, the Bush administration has been notified and has CHOSEN not to do anything. Today's article states "the use of pesticides around schools is well-regulated (by who) and can be managed to a level that does not present an unreasonable health risk (disputes yesterdays article). Allen James, president of RISE, a trade group for makers of pesticides used in schools said incidents are extremely rare (do you want your child the rare one?) - lets put his kid there. Jay Vroom, president of CropLife American - represents suppliers of farming pesticides, said this news is ALARMIST - lets put him and his family in the middle of the farm after the pesticide application. When school resumes I will be consulting the principle - I want to be notified of all pesticide and chemical applications around the school, the time and date of application: then instructions that my daughter is not to go on the playground or outside. She will be kept home from school for internal applciations that have not been aired out!!! What do you say?

Re: Chemical pollutions
Do you use chemicals to clean in your house? Carpet stain cleaners? Lysol? Windex? All of this stuff, and much, much more is sprayed in our homes regularly and we don't think twice about it. We inhale tons of chemicals every day. How about FeBreeze? Oh, my. How about scented candles? Don't they smell SOOOOO good (and they are toxic).
Chemical after chemical dispursed into our homes and we breathe it all in.
I run air purification constantly in our home 24 x 7 to help eliminate this problem. I never use febreeze or scented candles. I use natural cleaners (EcoH) as much as possible.
Make sure your own home is taken care of before you go after the schools. Your child likely spends more time in the home, even if sleeping they're breathing the chemicals, than at the school.

Re: Chemical pollutions
The point is not to fight the schools. It is to make you aware of chemical usage and how YOU are being affected. I do not use ANY chemicals in my home. Vinegar is a very inexpensive way to clean. Bleach is the alternative. Both are natural. I think it is excellent you pointed out the pollutants in the home. We are very concerned about womens health and cancer secondary to the household toxins. I am concerned about business and government in collusion and OUR health suffers for a dollar.
