    Re: The price of gas

I spent $2.09 last fill up (2/22) here in the Pacific NW. I have 2 gas cans in my van for the next fill up, so I can run my mower.......... If I find a cheaper price pretty soon, I'm going to make a big purchase & get all my cans filled & put in the shed so I can mow at the cheaper price. We're coming down it looks like, seemed like my last gas was $2.29.

I work at home, so don't use much, but I'm careful about it anyway........I remember when a drive used to be something considered "free" to do. Not these days! We've all become masters at grouping our errands & trips out. Takes long enough, I pack snacks for the kids!

$2.01 is what we paid in June 2004. March 2006 it is $2.29 a gallon.

                    Re: The price of gas

I'm going to have to give up driving if it gets much higher. I paid 2.53 this past week but I did manage to get the tank full. The news said our gas in the Pac. NW was going to be over $3 a gal pretty soon, definately before summer gets here. I know this isn't high for most other countries.....so I shouldn't whine. But, I'm really thinking about my driving here!!!

Its hoving in the 2.50 range here. I gotta do something about getting my driving under control. I just hate to put money in the tank, not that I can't afford to pay for the gas, but something about filling up costing me 50 bux does something negatively to me mentally.

                          Re: The price of gas

Central NJ is about $2.26 last I checked. I have a Ford Focus which gets anywhere from 25-34 mpg, and I work less than 4 miles from my apartment, 4 days a week. I've put on 3400 miles in 5 months, with two 700-mile round trips to Rochester NY and back. My boyfriend has put on 1200 miles in the past 4 months-- Still not going to complain about gas prices.

                            Re: The price of gas

At the moment petrol (what australians call the gas that goes in your car) is $0.88 USD ( $1.25AUD) per litre (no not a spelling mistake). There are 3.87 litres per gallon. 3.78 x 0.88 = $3.33 per gallon.
And that is in a major metropolitan centre. In country areas it can be as high as high ast $8.00 a gallon. Ususally the further inland you go the dearer it is.
So think of us poor aussie when your filling your car up.

                              Re: The price of gas

it's $2.49-$2.65 per gal for regular here. I know it varies by a few cents from station to station but during our drive today that's what I was seeing. Crazy huh?

I think we're all in the wrong business & should invest in OPEC they're making insane profits & jack up the prices for every lil excuse they come up with. Oh look a potential hurricane here or no maybe it was there, maintenece on this refinery, or their bottom line was looking pitiful so they raised the prices.

Americans don't realize how cheap things are in the U.S.--Singapore gas price: US$1.02 per litre. 3.78 litres per gallon (thank you to Tgavin71 for this conversion formula) means people who live here pay US$3.87 per gallon.
