    Firefox user here too.

I don't have any reason to put down IE or Microsoft, however, the fact is that I prefer Firefox for many reasons -- speed, compliance, features, security, add-ons, how it stores your bookmarks, etc.

I just downloaded the version 3.0.8 update this week.

A few years ago, I downloaded the IE7 with my older HP conputer and it caused issues with my computer. HP said that th IE7 was incompatible with the HP machines (st that time). Always check with your manufacturer before downloading certain programs. I even had an issue with a service pak. I have both on my computer so I can use whichever one I want.

You'll have to forgive me but I dont recommend IE. Firefox is better in many ways especially security-wise.

Does Firefox accept importation of favorites (bookmarks) and cookies from Internet Explorer 6? Also how compatible with Yahoo! is Firefox?

I recently moved over to Firefox, and thankfully it automatically imported all of my IE bookmarks, cookies, everything.... I don't use Yahoo very much, but I know there's a Yahoo toolbar available for firefox, if that means anything (it tagged along for the ride on a new Java update I downloaded... I hate when they do that)

I hated it. But the messages they were sending me seemed to be powered by Yahoo and it was a disaster for me. I installed it and for some reason afterwards I couldn't view flash player videos (like YouTube and stuff). So I uninstalled it and continued with whatever version I currently have.

                  Exile,

Hi, my name’s Feran and I am working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help provide information to folks about their Internet Explorer.

Whether you decide to get IE8 or not, it’s best to download from the official Microsoft site: wwwdotmicrosoftdotcom/windows/internet-explorer/defaultdotaspx?ocid=ie8_sm_a (replace the "dot" with a period ".") , rather than 3rd party sites.
I also just wanted to share some great resources with you that will help you learn more about IE8.

You can learn more by checking out the IEBlog: blogsdotmsdndotcom/ie/ . This is also a good site to give you a better idea of IE8 and see how it differs from other IE versions: wwwdotie8demosdotcom/tryit/

I hope this helps you out!

                  Feran,

As a matter of fact I tried to download IE8 a few days ago and received an error message before getting to second base. If this is the shape of things to come, I can imagine the problems that I will have even if I do successfully install it.

I think that there's a Firefox browser in my future.

                      Exile,

Make sure the operating system you are using is compatible with IE8. Here is a link that lists system requirements: wwwdotmicrosoftdotcom/windows/internet-explorer/support/system-requirementsdotaspx
Let me know if you are still having trouble downloading it.

Against my better judgment and the advice of several FF members, I installed IE8 for the sake of contiuity of my settings, cookies, favorites, ect. Since then I have more computer lockups/ hanging/ freezes--whatever you want to call them--than I had with IE6.

If you can help me fix this, feranm, I will stay with this browser, else I have no choice but to replace it with Firefox.
