  • Flat-rate Healthcare

Dr. John Muney has a practice in which he wants to charge a flat-rate of 79.00 per month for healthcare.

The government won't allow him to, saying that he is operating an insurance business.

BULL S, we do not need government healthcare, we need government to get out of the way.

    Any opinions?

Many doctors across the country have "boutique" practices where patients pay an annual fee to gain a high level of access to their doctor. The doctor is able to limit the size of his practice, spend much more time with each patient and provide a level of service far higher than what they typical doctor (like myself) is able to provide when we have to depend on seeing a high volume of patients to meet our operating costs. This isn't a new concept. It has been going on for years.

Can you post a link to the story you are referring to so we can review it? I'm curious what is different about this case than with other boutique practices.

You probably can guess my opinion on gov't getting out of the way. Why the hell should the gov't even have a say here? Oh yeah, the insurance companies lobby them to disallow this kind of thing.

This looks like it could be a low cost solution for low income families, without government involvement.

I'm not sure why this Dr. is not allowed to operate this way, but I googled flat-rate healthcare, and there are yearly fee practices out there.
