We were in Savannah, GA, right after Christmas and we were stopped by three different panhandlers. One took out his driver's license, said it was his birthday, and that he was 58 years old and he never expected to be so broke he couldn't buy a meal...he said he was so weak he didn't know if he could walk much more...my husband said there are signs saying panhandling is illegal (not to mention the guy smelled of booze) and the guy said it was OK since he was just asking for "help." My husband told him he couldn't help him...anyway, just then a police car drove by and this guy who was so "weak" ran like a bunny. The next day we were walking through one of the squares another guy came up and said he was a music composer and had come to Savannah for an audition (Savannah and not Nashville????) and could we help him since the mission was full and he was hungry and cold. Again, we told him about the illegallity and he said the same thing..."It's OK because I'm only asking for help." Do they have a panhandling course or what? We were approached by yet a third guy and same story. We gave them nothing.

honestly if a scam artist tells the cops you pointed a gun at him, you just say you did not
the cop is going to ask him the color of the gun, the size of the gun, where you pulled it from, semi or revolver, etc. and he probably will be able to give an accurate description.
now when the cop searches you and finds said gun, same color, and same style, they will believe his story and you are going to jail.
don't ever brandish a weapon unless you are ready to use it and feel threatened, and if you do pull it out, notify the police of the incident just to negate any reports made against you.

LOL no just lie and stick to it ;-)
we have had the terrible luck to witness several crimes over the years the criminal just says he did not do it and they get off scott free
I also doubt a scammer would be going to report you to the police ;-) and I agree tho I would never pull a weapon unless I was prepared to use it ;-)

I stopped at McDonald's for lunch today and was approached by a "gentleman" that asked me for a dollar so he could go inside and buy himself a Big Mac. I declined but told him if he would come inside with me I would by him a full meal. He was obviously on crack or more likely meth. badly damaged teeth and a cratered unkempt facial appearance. He wouldn't come inside with me and called me an MF for not giving him a dollar(you can guess easily where that money was going). I complained to mgt. but who knows how many he had already scammed."Those who can't remember the past are condemmed to repeat it".- George Santayana.

LOLI had something similar that happened to me but it wasn't for money, kinda freaked me out at first. I got home one day and as I always do glanced up into my mirror as I was about to get out and saw a truck block my path in my driveway. I got out and walked back to see if I could help the guy and as it turns out I have my website on the back on my SUV. He saw it and lived just down the road "that's why he was behind me" and followed me home because he had an interest in the business. That being said it always kinda rattles you when someone you don't know pulls in your driveway behind you. That being said the only scams I realy get are those via email. I got one for a perspective job that said the only requirements were to be "18 years of age, reliable transportation and a valid checking account" I thought WOW the nerve of some of these scammers. Suffice it to say this scamer had an office in NY so an immediate complaint was filed with the FTC and the emails were forwarded to the FBI fraud department.

As I pulled into my driveway, a man pulled in after me and got out of his beat up car as I did. He asked if he could have a minute of my time. As I walked up to my door, he told me how his mother is sick in a local hospital and he is trying to get to see her. The car, borrowed from his sister, is running on empty and won't make it to the hospital 10 miles away. He had taken a greyhound from a nearby city into town. If I could loan him $10 for gas and give him a business card, he'd send a check to pay me back next week. He did some admirable acting and even had a piece of paper with directions written down on it and a handful of $1 bills. I told him it was almost believable but to keep working on it... and to leave my private property immediately. I bet half the people he talks to give him $10.

LOL @ people pulling guns at people approaching them in public areas.
This guy probably has the best story so far...
