Does anyone receive their internet service through Vonage. Do they even provide it. I was trying to talk to one of their customer service reps and he couldn't answer my questions or seemed to be avoiding them. He just didn't seem to know what he was talking about. He wouldn't give me an exact amount as to how much it would cost and what the speed would be. He didn't speak English all that well so maybe it was just miscommunication. It seems like people here have had good experiences with it so I was looking to change as my yearly promotional rate has just expired and gone up $20.

Vonage is not an ISP. They do not offer Internet access.

Vonage is a VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone service that works with your existing, i.e. - from another source, broadband connection.

I did not see on their site that they did but the customer service guy said they had both and after asking him a few times what the speed of their connection was he put me on hold and came back and told me it was 2-3mgb. He would not quote me a price either he just kept telling me that it would be bout 20 less than what I am paying now. Wish I got his name so I could report him but I asked him so that when I was ready to order I could go through him and he did not give it to me than said he was not allowed to call people back directly unless it was on his break.

Apparently Vonage has some kind of arrangement with Earthlink. This particular reference is older, so I'm not sure of its accuracy today.

That Vonage has partnerships to bundle Internet service and its digital phone service is not surprising. Personally, I would not be inclined to seek out such an arrangement. Instead, I suggest obtaining a standard cable or 'naked' DSL connection from a provider servicing your area and then adding Vonage.

I used vonage for a while and after failing to deliver services they promised me when I signed up I tried to cancel. Every call was the same thing they tried to get me to stay and after 8 months and about 10 calls i finally had to lie to them to get my account closed. I told them I was moving to a place that did not have high speed internet so the service was useless to me. I would not recommend them to anyone no matter how good the product was.
