Let's hear your Ebay Challenge totals

For those of you doing the Ebay Challenge, post your January totals.

My January sales totaled $208.99, more than doubling my goal of $100.

My goal was to net $1200 for the year (since we buy and sell a lot of used stuff - more concerned about the net).

Anyway, $115 for January.

Absolutely. I called it the ebay challenge because it would have been weird to call it the ebay/half.com/amazon/craigslist challenge.

$55.00...I netted $688.00 but then got hit with last months fees/shipping...and wound up with $55.00 left in the paypal account. Oh well, there's always next month.

Delighted to say that since my big pre-relocation-sell-off 1-1/2 years ago, I have not accumulated any unwanted "stuff." So I'm not participating, but am rooting for all of you who are.

scfr, good job on not accumulating clutter. Most stuff I sell is stuff acquired specifically to resell.

I'm not activley participating in the the challenge (because I just found it). I just listed my first two items of the year is on Friday. One is an Eagle Creek packing cube that should sell for ~$15.

The second item will probably get pulled by Ebay. It is a set of Danish Rosetta Stone software. Apparently the manufacturer has some wording in the user agreement whereby you don't actually own the software after paying $200 for it, you just own a license to use the software. Consequently, the publisher has people who scour EBay for unauthorized sellers (there is ONE authorized seller, who lists everything at MSRP) and report their auctions as fraudulent. I think it's pretty clear they are interested in revenue protection, and not in legal protection.

Couple other "big ticket" items to list this week (Thule cargo rack, nice watch I never wear).

It isn't too late to join the challenge. Set a goal for your sales and go to it.

I HATE the situation you describe. Sorry, but once I buy an item, it belongs to me. If I choose to resell it, that is absolutely my right. It amazes me that companies get away with this.

Agreed. I understand the need for piracy protection, but I have an original receipt. I think they get around it by some clever wording in the user agreement you click through to use the software.

I've had a few emails about a sale outside of Ebay, since people know they get pulled. Danish versions are rare on the second-hand market because . . .well, no one buys the new versions, as it's not a real practical second language.

I sold $201.18 in January. My goal for the challenge is to average $40/month. I sold mostly textbooks in January and no longer have any textbooks that I need to get rid of. I have many books and DVDs to sell but they are selling for a few dollars each on half.com and other places.

$37.18 from books/games and $700 for a pickup. Don't know if the $700 counts? We did sell it on our local website. I'm counting it!

I add it up after the month is over with excel. I have to deduct the big amount I pay e bay, paypal, and shipping, and consider what I Actually paid for the stuff so it isn't exactly printing money(oh and my time to list, photo, gather, pack, go to post if it is international)
