  • Saving money printing postage for ebay/half.com

Finally! I was just shopping for shipping labels on ebay and someone actually posted how to get 2 labels per sheet in their auction description. If you print postage at home, you probably know what I'm talking about. The actual shipping label prints on the top half of the page and a receipt prints on the bottom half which is a total waste (unless you really want the receipt). There is a way to not print the receipt, so the label would print on half the sheet and the other half would remain blank, so you can run it through again to print a second label.

    Here's what you do.

Log in to your PayPal account.
    Click on Profile.
    Click on Selling Preferences.
    Click on Shipping Preferences.
    Click on Edit Printer Settings.
Uncheck the box to Print a Receipt.

Ta-dah! That's it. I can't wait to try it. That will save me 50% on the cost of labels. Saves ink, too.

By the way, if you need labels, buy them on ebay. A box of 100 is $23.99 at Staples and $13.98 on ebay with free shipping.

I don't use labels, but plain paper and then tape it on to the box. I figure I need the packing tape anyway. It works just fine for me.

I did know about the ability to not print a receipt. I've still been printing them though. I may stop this though...I've never needed a receipt.

      Cool.

I normally use my Dymo label printer for postage, but only because I got it nearly free through my employeer.

Thank you for posting that!!!! I've been trying to figure out if that was possible for ever. That will save a ton of ink and labels!

I am going to use that too. I have a printer that uses some kind of powder ink and it lasts a long time, but it costs a lot to buy the refill(which I get on e bay. I use packing tape to take the label on.
I just save and stack the receipts in a box but I have all the info in paypal so receipt not needed really.

I thought I'd bring this one up again. Somehow, my preferences got reset and I started getting receipts again, so I searched for this thread to remind myself how to do it.

Printing postage online through paypal is cheaper than the post office in many cases. I often offer parcel post and priority mail to customers. Customers chose the less expensive option, parcel post, but with the discount I get for priority mail, it is more advantageous(I net more) to me to send priority. The customer receives the item quicker and I make a little extra to offset the fees.

Steve, what type of paypal account do you have? The basic or premier? I have premier, but wondered if I should or could downgrade to save on fees. Any thoughts or advice on this?
