The Carnival lines are pretty good... when my family lived in germany, we took one of theirs around the Mediterranean for Christmas, and were really happy with it. I think that's also who my parents used for their 20th anniversary Alaskan cruise a few years ago.
Most discount travel websites can book cruises for you. Just be careful that the company you're working through is trustworthy/reputable... A friend of mine "bought" a Carribean cruise about 8 months ago, and when he showed up at the port, the cruise line had no idea who he was. He got scammed, and lost well over $1k in the deal...
Well,I want to go someplace tropical...and I don't know a lot about the areas. I know some cruises skip around different islands...so I thought it would be a good idea for my fiance and I.
You might want to check out cruisecritic.com. They have discussion boards and lots of reviews of the the various cruise lines and individual ships.
I agree. That is THE site for cruise info. You can get info on every ship, reviews, trip reports from those who have taken each cruise, etc. There is also a Role Call feature where folks who are all taking the same upcoming cruise hook up online and sometimes meet up in person on the trip.
ETA: We've sailed with Carnival 3 times and have been very happy with them.
* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.
My husband and I did a cruise for our honeymoon and hated it overall. Were the kind of traveling people who are kind of annoyed by overly touristy things and prefer to use a book like the Lonely Planet and just explore. We spent an extra $100 in tips alone. If you like to drink, forget the budget. Some of the activities were a lot of fun but the rest were either cheesy or cost $ to join. The deck was a mess hall of seat savers and besides the formal dinners the food was just "ok."
I mean, I can see the appeal of paying a set price and just relaxing the whole time....but for us it was difficult to stick to the budget and not overspend because we were bored.
Camping in the Smokey Mountains would have been cheaper and more fun (imo) but honeymoons are "supposed to be" getaways to exotic locals.
I am a very fussy person but I like to go on a cruise every once in a while. I like detailed care and a range of services. Do you know any cruise lines?
The latest cruises I've been on have been through Carnival and Royal Caribbean. I might mention that the cruise lines and ships were not my choice. They were roughly comparable in experience, though the Royal Caribbean ship and amenities were nicer.
