I recently had a coupon that said "Get 2 packs of xxxxx gum and get a free 2 liter dr. pepper" and then had a coupond for xxxx gum bogo free so I tried to use both I was denied even called a manager they told me I had to PAY for both packs to get the dr. pepper! At the end the store will get there money but I don't understand why they said this?? Has anyone else tried this before if so what happened, or how do you feel were they right??

It 's one of those times YMMV... Your Mileage May Vary. Depends on store policy- where I am I would have the same result you did.

I find that stuff like this depends on which checkout line you're on. I usually go for the relatively inexperienced high school kid who would be too embarassed to call the manager, or the real apathetic looking one who doesn't really care and will just look up the amount on the receipt and key it in manually (lol)!

I hate to say it, but I have to agree with the store's stand on the coupons, as much as it stinks. Typically, "double dipping" like that isn't permitted. You're essentially trying to use two coupons for one product. (Or reaping two benefits from the purchase of one item.)

On another note (slightly related) - some stores DO permit use of one of their store coupons and a manufacturer's coupon. This I do alot. It works at Walgreens, and some Eckerds, RiteAids, etc... They have coupons in their Sunday circulars that state, "May not be used with another Eckerd coupon" for example, but you CAN use a mfg. coupon.

Sorry about your coupon disappointment ~
