  • Bachelorette Party and Cards

I have a dilemma. I'm planning a bachelorette party for my friend. I am standing in the wedding, but not the maid of honor (That's another story). Sooooo, it's going to be on May 28th. I finally found out where to go and now I need to send out invitations. Problem.

Any ideas on where to get invitations, or how to make some or a good template? Yes, I know it's short notice, but I thought I'd be able to find some in the store... and so far no luck.

Also, I want to put in the costs associated. We're going to a comedy place, and then out to a bar. How do I tactifully say: The show is $30 and the bar will be cover and buy a round?

Have you thought about sending emails? That would save $$ on the stamps and it would get them out quicker, the 28th is only 1 1/2 weeks away. You could say that you're asking everyone to pay $50 and that covers the comedy club, bar cover and a round of drinks.

I don't think I have everyone's e-mails, but that had crossed my mind. Also, I don't know if $50 will cover it all. We're going downtown Chicago. The cover is probably $20 (or less) and a single drink is between $5 and $9. I think 7 people are going, but I'm not sure on that either. So a round of drinks would probably be $40+

I have had great luck with invitations at The Dollar Tree ~ finding a pack of 8 for $1 - hard to beat that! Even if you get girlie ones that look like they're for a teenager, it works for a bachelorette party!

I would quickly put some verbage together and type a small paragraph about the anticipated costs. "I'm looking forward to a wonderful ladies night! I think it would be great if we treat (bride) to a fabulous and free night. Please keep in mind that admission to the comedy club and bar will likely come to $40 or so. (Bride)'s costs for the night will surely be about $100 or more. I'd greatly appreciate it if you would be able to contribute $20 towards this. I'm sure she will be thrilled! Thank you."

Then I'd copy and paste it for as many as you need, print them out, and include one in each invitation. I would not ask them to buy a round. Everyone drinks different amounts and it never comes out 'fair'. With good friends, who cares...but I'd let everyone be responsible for themselves. If they OPT to buy a round, so be it. But I'd try to get $20 from each ~ not alot to ask, but it should cover the bride's costs.

I agree, I wouldn't ask everyone to buy a round. Ask for enough to cover the bride and that's it (in addition to individual comedy club tickets, of course). People who have been to bachelorette parties before are used to having to chip in.

If you can get everyone's emails, I'd use evite.com. That way you'll know for sure who is going (if they respond, of course). That would be the way to go when you have a short time frame. Otherwise, I like the dollar store idea. I was going to suggest postcards, but you probably don't want the whole world to know where you are going and what you are doing. Have fun!
