  • I love the Internet!! Saving money related

Last nite, we were at the bookstore and I had a brilliant idea to look in the bargain book section for art/travel books because we need some pictures for decorating at my daughter's Bat Mitzvah this month. They didn't have anything appropriate but the bargain books happened to be next to the calendars. Sure enough, they had several calendars that had great pictures that were perfect for what we need. Of course, new calendars are $13.99 and up, so 3 of them would have cost us upwards of $45.00. DW suggested looking on Amazon since I have a ton of gift certificate credit from the surveys I do (like over $400 credit right now).

We went home and I looked on Amazon. They had a wide selection of calendars. Prices were similar to the bookstore BUT they also had sellers who were selling last year's calendars for a lot less. All we need is the pictures. We don't care if the calendars are right or not. So I got two for $5.00 each and one for $1.99. With shipping, the total order was $24.96. Plus, I used my credit so no out of pocket cost.

Gotta love the internet. In one transaction, I saved at least $25.00.

That is from one company I do medical surveys for. They are for doctors only, not open to the general public. It actually isn't exactly a survey. I log on and call in to a call center and have a discussion about a particular product with a rep while viewing a presentation on my computer. There is a very brief survey after that, but it is the conference that I'm really being compensated for. I get $30 for each one that I do. I haven't had time to do them lately, but for a while, I was doing at least one/week. It adds up quickly.
