  • Is anyone else from Missouri?

Anyone else out there from Missouri? This year I am wanting to take some side trips around the state, and am looking for ideas. They all sound good online, but want some first hand suggestions...Will want to spend part of the time camping. I will have my kids with me.

I used to live on the Kansas City border about 15 years back. I actually lived in Kansas, but worked in Missouri. I didn't do much camping within the state, but if you are going to be heading west into Kansas and beyond, I may be able to help a bit.

My parents lived in NW Arkansas, and the hot spot around there was Branson Missouri, if you like country music and other music. Yo-Yo Ma, I believe is there.

I'm right outside of KC. We go camping in Northern Arkansas - Mammoth Springs, AR has beautiful scenery, North Fork and Spring rivers are great for canoeing. We've camped on the MO side too, but not as pretty as AR, and the rivers aren't as clean or fast.

I'm from Springfield. My husband does a lot of hiking out towards West Plains in the Devil's Backbone area. It's really pretty and there are some campgrounds available. Beyond outdoor things, I could probably help a little with things to do in the Springfield and Branson area as well as St. Louis. Where are you coming from?
