I'm a teacher, but I would like to do this outside of the school year. If possible, I would love for it to not include children...because I have 750 students...and I need something different.
You might want to consider mystery shopping. The pay and number of assignments available depend greatly on where you live, but it is also very flexible.
Can you write an interesting and instructive blog? A well written blog on a subject of interest can bring in income using affiliate ads, etc. with no upfront costs. Their are quite a few blogs out there that tell you how and I could see with your experience writing on educating children, lesson plans for homeschoolers, etc where you can use your knowledge base but not have to deal with the children themselve. It may take awhile to get going but once started and if you work on it, should help bring in some income.
Scrimp and Save, have you thought about doing Call center work from home? I do that. As a matter of fact that is how I support my children. I take calls for companies and I am an independant contractor. I get a 1099 at the end of the year, I get to write off a lot of my household expences. No gas, no make up , you can work in your pajamas. I love it. I am new here, if your interested send me your email and I will send you the information.
