  • Smart Online Shopping

Many of you already know how to use pricebots and the like to do comparison shopping (e.g, for travel, check out kayak.com and expedia.com to see the difference in what is available to you).

However, if any of you are online shoppers such as I am at times, there are ways to save even more money on your purchases.

Here are the additional ways that I save money when shopping online:

    1. I use a rebate website to make my purchases, and gain an additional 3-25% in savings via a quarterly rebate check. I've saved an additional 2% on ebay purchases, 7% on Proflowers.com, etc.

    2. I subscribe to an online refund website at $12/yr -- this site provides up to date sales information and great deal listings at sites such as Amazon.com and others. Through this, I've been able to get $182. of software for free after rebates. Once I get the software, I'll either use them or donate them (tax writeoff) to a school, or women's abuse shelter in my area. This more thank makes up for the annual subscription fee.

Here're some more examples of what I've been able to save wiht this subscription:

I've been able to purchase approximately 56 disposabl e Kodak cameras for tax only. (Cameras were on sale for $7.99 and coupons were available for $10.00 ANY Kodak Camera - including disposables).

I've been able to purchase approximately 90 2packs of WISK tablets for $3.00. Again, coupons were available on the product.

With coupons accessible from a blinky machine, I've been able to purchase approximately 50 boxes of dishwasher gel tablets for $0.00.

    3. I make "triple plays" by checking out what's posted in #2 above, then going through #1 above to make my purchases -- not only do I get a sale price, but I get a rebate from the manufacturer and a rebate from the website I go through for the purchase.

Many of these items that I get for free or close to free I've shared with family and friends; and made donations to schools or domestic abuse shelters. Extra shampoos, conditioners, toothbrushes, toothpastes, deodorants, etc. I've shared with the homeless shelters in my area.

Other than the refund site, there is no fee to join the rebate sites, and I've tested them out -- they work great and I've never had a problem.
