Father's Day

Just curious as to what everyone is giving, spending, or doing this Sunday for Father's Day. We plan to take the kids over to my brother's and have a bbq with my parents. My husband is getting (from the kids) a framed picture/handprint, a small Itunes gift card, and a kid/chore free day to go on a long bike ride.

We usually cook breakfast for my DH but the church is having a special breakfast so he will eat there. We have t-ball in the afternoon and will cook dinner when we get back (ribs, coleslaw, blueberry pie for dessert). We will give him cards but we don't do gifts (other then what they make in school).

Our fathers day plans were made for us. My wife's aunt and uncle are celebrating their 50th anniversary and their kids are throwing them a party. So we are going down to Potomac, MD to attend the party. We're thinking about going down on Saturday and doing some sightseeing and spending the night in the area to make a little get-away out of it.

This morning DD and I made a plaster hand print.... paperweight? I think that's probably what it will be. She's only 2, so we used the base of an oatmeal container for the mold; it isn't very big. We'll also grill something for dinner.

We sent cards to our dads. My father and I were estranged for about 20 years- do you have any idea how hard it is to buy a card that wishes someone a happy Father's Day without proclaiming what a great father they were?

We have not made any father's day plans. My husband is one heck of a good father, though.

We rarely buy greeting cards. We often make our own on the computer. That way it can say whatever we want it to say.

My siblings and I (4 of us) went in together to buy my father new porch furniture for his enclosed porch. It ended up being a total of $700...but my dad is 74 and I don't know how many father's days I have left with him.

Kids will make cards.....and..If I feel up to it, I might take back dinner duty (just had a baby)

My daughters are sending me to play golf. I'm suspicious that my wife may have something to do with this because golf has made me a sleeping financial giant in the past. I better achieve when I focus on one thing, golf could be a looming enemy. hmmm.

We are going to be gone with a group of people - so I will celebrate early for my husband ("from" our 1 year old ). I'm not sure what to do for my dad, though...he's always harder to do something for, but loves whatever we do for him (does that make sense?). Anyway, still thinking through that one...

Just a family get together and dinner out. We've been apart for quite a while so simple things like these already means a lot.

Just buying a book for dad this year. He's a history buff and I found a good one for him over at amazon.

I'm making lunch for my dad, then we're going out to see the new Indiana Jones movie.
