  • folding vrs hanging

My hubby and I are arguing over what is quicker folding laundry or hanging it on hangers I prefer hanging because folded clothes always seem to end up back in the dirty clothes because you cant find anything jumbled in a drawer the only thing I fold is underthings and sweaters cant wait to here from someone on my side

I hang almost everything -- helps cut down (or eliminate in my case ) on the ironing! Storing hanging clothes is easier too.

I hang almost everything too. For all the reasons already mentioned is exactly why I hang everything

Going a bit against the grain here, but I fold everything. I think the important thing is to make sure you don't overstuff drawers. Since I don't have a lot of clothes, it's never a problem finding what I need even if they are folded.

If I hang jeans the hangers break. I also find that t-shirts tend to stretch at the neck if hung. And no way am I wasting time hanging stuff for my preschooler or toddler, they would have it off the hanger in seconds first day they went to get dressed! (I am not sure why I fold the stuff either, DS is always unfolding the stuff on they way to the dresser)

But I do hang all dress stuff that would need ironed at anypoint, and I hang my PJs, mainly cause that keeps them in the same place as the fancy sleep stuff, more chance of me using it without a special occsion.

I fold all t-shirts/tanks, sweaters, sweatshirts, shorts and jeans. I hang nicer pants, skirts, dresses, button-down tops and jackets.

I fold all of my casual wear and hang items that are more formal.

I do a mixture. It depends on what the garment is made of. The heavier and sometimes more synthetic..ie..poly can stretch if hung for to long. Sweaters are also something that can get out of wack if hung improperly. Keep in mind that your hangers can alter the shape of your clothing. Wire hangers are never a good thing.

Dress stuff in the closet... skirts, nice pants.

                  Everything else gets folded.

                    Re: folding vrs hanging

I hang everything except underwear & jeans (and a few shorts and sweatpants).
I put up a place to hang things in my laundry room, so when I am doing laundry, I can hang damp clothes and don't have to worry about running the dryer. If I'm home, I will dry jeans in the dryer, but if I'm not going to be there, I will hang those up too.
This way, I don't have to worry about getting things out of the dryer in time to prevent wrinkling.

I hang most-but I invested in some good heavy wooden hangers (bought from a hotel that was auctioning off its items before tearing down and rebuilding). The reason I have is because I line dry, and most items I have found I can put on the hanger, then hang the hanger from the line to dry. If I hang all my shirts together, then all my skirts...it us much quicker to put away in the closets. The wooden hangers dont rust, are very sturdy and hold even heavy items such as winter coats without bending out of shape.

I fold and hang depending on what it is. Usually the casual wear gets folded and the nicer clothes get hung.

I do both - depending on whose clothes they are. Little kids get folded, older kids and adults get hung up.

I hang everything it's so much easier pop it out of the dryer stick it on a hanger and lessens any ironing I would have to do!
