Now this is truly insane. US Air announced today that they will stop offering free snacks on their flights. I've flown US Air many times. The "snack" is a tiny packet of mini pretzels that holds maybe 6 or 8 pretzels. No way does that packet cost them more than a dime. The reason they gave for discontinuing the pretzels: rising fuel costs.
I don't understand the reasoning of the airlines. Just raise the darn price and stop cutting services and adding nuisance fees. Do you really think any customers would stop flying if you upped the price of a ticket by $0.25 to cover the cost of a pack of pretzels?
