I have a will, a living will, a durable power of attorney, and a health care proxy. All are signed and notarized. I did this a good while back and I am sure glad I did!

I always thought a notarized document entailing your wishes was considered a valid "living will"? My problem with lawyers is the enormous costs they charge and their lack of personable skills

you di not need to involve a lawyer you can draw it up yourself or use software and have it notorized. most banks have a notory and have no fee if you are a member some places charge a small fee for notorization

I would like to get my Will started but I am going to be waiting maybe another year. I do want my daughter to be protected if something were to happen to me though.

you can't have a living will here in ES.... I do need to get some paper work regarding custody of my daughter, though, being a single mom...if anything happens to me, I want my daughter to remain with my sister...not that I think her father would try to request custody or anything, but, you never know!...my sister is my beneficiary in all accounts/insurance, so that she has control of the money - she knows its for DD and I know she'll honor that....
