I am getting married may 10 then going on a road trip from upstate ny to hershey pa for one day, onto gettysburg for one day, then washington dc for 2 days, nashville for two days, finally in cleveland for 1 day. I already have prepaid tickets for the country music hall of fame and the football hall of fame. I also will be planning on attending the rock and roll hall of fame. i need ideas of other things that will be low/no cost to see. I really enjoy historical sites, state parks, natural scenic things. absolutley don't do amusement parks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Washington is the Mecca for free activities. You could spend weeks exploring the various museums and galleries and government sites without ever spending a penny. Favorites are the Air and Space Museum, the National History Museum, the National Art Gallery, the National Archives, Arlington Cemetery and so many more. Not so much a historic site but a nice place for lunch and some browsing is Union Station. As for nature, there is the US Botanical Gardens.
In Hershey, even if you skip the amusement park, stop by the visitor's center. They have a free ride that teaches you how they make chocolate. Years ago you used to tour the actual factory. Now it is all simulated but still fun and educational.
As for Cleveland, I'm not sure that you can squeeze in both the Rock and Roll hall of fame and the Football hall of fame into just one day. Keep in mind that the football hall isn't in Cleveland. It is in Akron which is 40 or so miles from Cleveland.Steve
* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

Football HOF is in Canton, about 40 miles from Cleveland. It will be about a 4 hour tour through the hall, maybe 6. I did my tour in 4 hours.
DC has free stuff. Air and Space Museum, Ford's theatre and Arlington Nat'l cemetary are my 3 favorate places.
Not sure how/which route you will take from Nashville to Cleveland. If in Cincy area (I-75 North to I-71 North), consider these things to do:
kings Island (amusement park)
Ulyses S Grant boyhood Home
William Howard Taft has a museum here, I THINK
there is an underground railroad freedom museum in downtown cincy
Cedar point is just outside Cleveland
Cleveland has some excellent microbreweries downtown (if you like beer).
I heard the "flats" in Cleveland do not exist anymore. If you get a chance to confirm that rumor for me, let me know.
