Bustling is where a dressmaker puts in a system of buttons or ties that serve to lift up the long train of the dress and attach it up around your waist/hips/bottom.

It holds up and secures the long train off the ground so it doesn't touch the floor and you can walk around, dance, etc. at the reception without having to drag your train around or trip over it all the time.

My train wasn't very long or heavy, so my bustle was very simple--just 3 buttons. My best friend had a much longer and more elaborate train, so hers had 12 ties. It just depends on the dress.

A great source for wedding dresses: Brides Against Breast Cancer is a travelling show of dresses for sale at greatly reduced prices. Most are brand new and were donated by bridal salons. Money raised by the sales goes to a make-a-wish program for women with terminal cancer.

I'll definitely second that! That's where I sent my wedding dress after I got married. They have great deals on new dresses from desinger samples or seasonal closeouts and they have super great prices on donated dresses, which they clean and touch up before they offer for sale.

          They're an awesome organization!

instead of bustling my dress I had a wrist tie...so I 'hung' the train on my arm...but I had a short train.
