Do you find that shopping over the Internet is less expensive than shopping at regular brick and mortar stores? I haven't been able to come to a conclusion as to which one is a better deal - and maybe neither is and it just depends, but has anyone found any tendencies that certain items are a better value at one place rather than the other?

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I Love Shopping over the Internet and at times I do find it is cheaper just because of eBay.com, Amazon.com and half.com.
I am sure their are plenty of places to find used items Online and to me, I sometimes think that it is the same as using gas in your Car to go shopping when you pay shipping & handling.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
it can be cheaper, particularly if you can find places offering $1 shipping (like at overstock.com) or free shipping (at amazon.com on super saver items), or drastically reduced prices. I usually compare how much I can get a discount on an item online compared to the store, calculate shipping to see if it shoots up the price over that of the store, and buy accordingly. another big factor is whether or not I need the item immediately or if I can wait a week or two. I love shopping online, personally.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I mainly shop for books and cd's over the Internet. Now that I am trying to be frugal I buy less. I also check the stores around the area in order to get the best price. I don't like having to return things after purchasing over the Internet. I guess it is a mixed bag of benefits and drawbacks.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I agree, depending how far away you shop, shipping and handling can be equal to or less than the price of gas and wear and tear on your car. Also, if you put in the name of the site you want to shop at, and 'coupons' in google, you should get links to current coupon codes you can use during checkout which will reduce your bill even more. I have 4 kids, so it is worth it to me to shop online instead of loading them all up and dealing with them.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I have bought (and sold) books and textbooks online for years (Amazon marketplace!). I buy clothing and shoes online if I am sure I know my size. If you find something a full price that you like, make sure to note the brand, size etc. because a few months down the road, when the next season's line is in, sometimes you can find these items online. I recently had a very good experiance buying a used CD and a used DVD online (again, Amazon marketplace). I saved about $13.00 between the two of them and they were in new condition.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
Shopping online can be so much easier than going out at times too... if you consider the transportation costs. I live 30 mins away from manhattan but to get there, I have to drive to the ferry & park (gas + 6.00 parking) and if I go anywhere in the city, the train is 2.00 one way... a fun pass (all day transportation pass) is 7.00... it starts to add up (and of course, you wind up getting hungry when you bargain hunt!)

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I hardly ever buy online, not that I don't shop. But my wallet is way on the other side of the house and I never let any site save my info, Don't forget the kids climbing on my lap and hitting the keys and trying to get me to go look at firetrucks or puppies, so after the fifteen billionth time I try to get the darn thing to work, I usually give up and end up not buying. So for me shopping online is really good for me

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I use the internet to research most things that I want to buy. Occasionally I will buy locally, especially if the cost of shipping outweighs the money saved by buying online. But, I do buy alot of stuff online because of the better selection and lower prices.
If you are going to buy online and you want pay less, it helps to know about the different resources to help, such as coupon sites and best price search engines.

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I mainly buy diapers online at amazon & of course sometimes when thiers other good deals I buy coupons on ebay alot. I also sometimes buy at oldnavy because we dont have one here & we bought dh's textbooks online because it was cheaper. So I mainly do it only when I feel I am getting a better deal than going to the B&M store

Re: Do you shop over the Internet?
I buy lots of stuff on line. Mainly on ebay, Amazon. Mostly gifts. I got my son's baseball equipment on line, as it was less expensive than going to Dick's Sporting Goods or another local store.
I buy video games for my kids (when they have money for them) and get them far cheeper on ebay or amazon.
Shopping on line makes sense for many thing. I'll have to check out diapers on Amazon...
