Sometimes the comments people make just amazes me. I was shopping and went to pay for my groceries. I bought some diet foods and when I was ready to pay, the cashier said, "When you sit around all day and don't have to work, I guess you need to buy this stuff."

Where does some cashier I don't even know get off making comments like that?

That is absolutely terrible and totally uncalled for. I hope that you complained to the manager. Even if someone else is having a bad day, there is no excuse for them to take it out on someone else.

OMG what crap??? I don't take rude people lightly or bad customer service either.

If you didn't go up to the manager, I would give them a call.

I didn't speak with the manager at that point. I was too shocked at that moment, but I am planning to go and talk on my next visit to the store in a couple of days. It is probably for the best. I was so angry at that time I'm not sure what I would have said. Now I have the time to plan and tell them exactly what I want.

I am interested in hearing how the manager handles it. Please give an update if you can.

I am a waitress. I had a guy send his plate back to the manager. He told the manager that he didn't like the food and that he is going to eat it, but wasn't going to pay for it. the manager said, " you don't have to pay for it but your not going to eat it either". He took the plate. I walked over to the man (not knowing what happened) I said, "I am so sorry sir, can I get you anything else?" he said ,"NO and don't talk to me because I dont talk to poor-low scum trash. I don't talk to waitresses because they are poor." I almost died. All I could do was laugh at this piece of crap. Obviously there was something wrong with this guy(who does that) My manager told him to leave and not come back.

I have noticed a rapid decline in both good customer service and respectful customers. Before I became disabled I worked in customer service and some of the things customers said and did were absolutely out there.

My biggest beef is with people who use cell phones. It is like they have those darn things glued to thier ears.I remember a time when car phones were only used by the military and ultra rich and even then they were seldom seen. Now people are on those things while they drive, shop, watch movies at a theater, and even while they eat out.And there is nothing more rude to me then a person who talks on those things while doing any one of those things.I used to own a cell phone but I never saw the point. If I need to talk to someone I can call them at home.I still have the phone but the service is off.I am now a total anti cell phone advocate.I hate them and I hate how they have made people bad drivers, rude theater guests, obnoxious eaters, and rude customers....

We have a girl at work that is always rude to customers...People complain to our manager about her all of the time but she never gets reprimanded about it. I have had to soften over situations with customers several times because of her....

I feel like this The customer may not always be right but without them we don't have a job... its not hard to be nice.

                      Re: Rude People

I've seen both sides of it...once, when I was in customer service, a guy called requesting that his cargo be released, which we couldn't do because his shipper had not authorized us to...the man got mad and hang up on me, and called back about 10 minutes later and said: "listen to me B*tch, you release my cargo right now because the shipper says he does NOT have it on hold"...I said: "Excuse me sir, there's no need to use such language. The instruction to release the cargo has to go from your shipper to our offices in the point of origin..." ...and he said: "I'll call you B*tch if I want to, that' what you're paid for, to take anything that customers want to say to you!"..."Actually, NO. I'm paid to try to provide you with a solution, I don't HAVE to take the abuse. If you want to, I can transfer you to the General Manager, but he'll tell you exactly the same thing..." He said he wished to speak to my GM....I told him the whole story before transferring him and my boss told him we would try to help him, but that he HAD to stop insulting the staff...He also told him he (the GM) felt that I had been overly patient in this situation...

On the other hand, I've had some people be so rude to me, I've ended up going to their supervisors to complain....

I hate rude people, I feel there's no excuse for being uncivilized...

As for cellphones, I love mine....it makes me feel safe to know that, no matter what happens, help is just a phone call away!! (but, I do get annoyed at people who misuse/abuse them!)

                        Re: Rude People

And its getting worse. The younger generation is worse. If I was rude or didn't listen to my parents I got a whopping. When we tried to argue back to our mom out came dad's belts, shoes or whatever was close at hand

I'm so glad they did that because none of us would be where we are today and I'm thankful for my parents for doing that. Its not easy to be a strict parent, I try to be strict with my little girl but I just get soft

I see mis-behaving kids all over and their parents don't even acknowledge it. My co-worker was telling me that her 11 yr old threatened to call the cops and kept screaming "don't touch me, you're hurting me, let go..." to get the neighbors attention when she tried to hold her arm and gave her one slap on the butt. To me that's shocking because making fuss even when taking a whopping was just not an option!

I understand in todays society its frowned upon and the 'experts' say beating is not the answer but the same 'experts' can't tell us why there are so many misbehaved kids out there today. Not just mis-behaved but down right psychos who kill their school mates and neighbors before they even get into their teen years...I blame a lot of the parents for the extremely mis-behaved kids who also end up turning criminals later in life

Wow! I would have been miffed! I guess some people have no clue as to what etiquette requires. Some people are so ignorant. I can't wait to hear what the manager does. I would ask for an apology directly from the employee.

                            Marla hun:

Be sure to alert this manager that this comment has opened him/herself to legal ramifications detrimental to his/her future with that company. And make sure that the cashier governs her actions accordingly...you can make her already miserable life worse.

We are behind you 200%!!! Go get them and let us know.
