    Well, look at this way.

$600 for a clucth, and you shouldn't have to replace the clutch again for sometime.

$600 for a down payment, then you have 48 to 60 monthly payments.

I will soon have to have transimission work done on my truck, which I am still making payments on. I am getting hit from both sides.

I think you got a pretty good deal. In 1992, I had to replace a clutch. It cost $900 plus $250 for the tow down the mountain. Wish I had had your mechanic.

LOL - I was expecting a story about a designer handbag, not a car.

                  Mrs Chambers

I understand your pain! We had both cars break down in one day last July. I can't remember the exact dollar amounts but it was over $2k that we need to pay out.

If you have an emergency fund, that is what it is there for. The $600 may be a good investment to have your car last for another few years.

lol... emergency fund...lol... now thats a novel concept!!

yeah, no emergency fund... my husband and I have had to use all of our funds of late to purchase a big heavy duty rope that we are using to pull our heads out of our butts!!

                    wink
