Has anyone else noticed that many retailers are still running their Christmas ads on TV, 4 days after the holiday? Yesterday, I saw an ad for Bass Pro Shops talking about how they have everything that the people on your list want this year and how their gift cards make the perfect gift. This morning, I saw one of the Wal-Mart ads with the kid hanging signs up all over the house to let his parents know what he wants. Even on ebay yesterday, I saw a listing that said the item would make a great gift or stocking stuffer and the auction doesn't end for a few more days. It is bad enough that the holday ads start in the summertime. Now they don't even stop when the holiday is over.

Sorry folks - Christmas is over. Stop the ads!

I've been watching more TV than usual and I'm seeing that too. Last year I got tired of all the Christmas talk here on the savingadvice.com forums and blogs. But this year I tolerated it much better. I don't have a problem with after-Christmas sales and commercials. I'm talking about stores running the exact same ads they ran before Christmas that just don't make sense anymore once the holiday is over.Steve

Some people still have not celebrated Christmas. We have several in our family who spend their Christmas with the otherside of the family on News Years. I used to have several co-workers who did the same. In fact, they did not even start their shopping until after Christmas because they got things on sale/clearance.
We have a highway patrolman down the road who has to work every Christmas (12 hour shifts), but gets New Years off-so his wife also works Christmas and their family celebrates it on New Years when they can both be off work.
I think stores realize that and keep the ads running. A lot of people do it that way.

Come to think of it, mom-from-missouri, there are also the Orthodox Christians who use the Julian calendar on which Christmas occurs January 7."There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid
