I have no intention to EVER take my kids to Disney. I really don't care for it and there are other places I would rather go. So, I often get looked at as if I have 2 heads since those who enjoy going can't imagine someone doesn't want to go there!
I would be one of those people who can't understand this. Disney World has something for everyone, from infants to seniors, something to appeal to virtually every interest. That's why we keep going back. Every trip is different. Every trip holds new adventures.
Of course, we also love to travel and go lots of other places, too.

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.
I have been to Disney world and just don't enjoy it. Very much a tourist trap. There are many other places I just prefer to go. I would rather just take my kids to the amusement park rather than Disney. If you enjoy it that is great because a lot of people do. But, it does seem like an expected rite of passage nowadays.
That is the part I object to, Whatever floats your boat is fine, but don't look at me like I am a terrible parent just cause I don't want to.
I agree. Nobody has to take a certain vacation or wear certain clothes or drive a certain car. The expectation that all parents have to take their kids to Disney World has become the norm.

I also love when they preceed the price with "only" like "get a new BMW for ONLY $59,999."

Speaking of car commercials, has anyone seen the new Toyotathon Phenomenon ads? The commercials show people destroying their old cars by various means (in other words, commiting insurance fraud) to purchase a new Toyota they "always wanted or needed." I find them really annoying and done in poor taste.
This one gets used constantly over on the Disney board. People act as if their kids will be scarred for life if they don't go to Disney World while they are in preschool. My first Disney trip was when I was almost 14 and I loved every second of it. Heck, the place didn't even open until I was 7 and I grew up just fine.
I dunno steve... im 25 and have never been to disney world. im still in therapy for it.
(nah, just kidding). i think its a wee silly taking kids younger than 8 or so when they wont even remember it!

And don't they do one with appliances too? I want a new dishwasher but I will have to wait cuz I don't think that it will help to destroy my current one, no matter how bad it is acting!
It's not a quote, per se, but I hate the newest commercial for freecreditreport.com. It's a guy singing a song about how somene stole his identity, and because he didn't check his credit report, he's stuck serving food to tourists.
I hate this commercial because there's nothing wrong with waiting tables. I did it for quite a long time, and it's not a job any idiot can do. There really is an art to it. It's respectable, hard work. I hate how some people treat "menial laborers," as if they're worthless people. Every "crappy" job is important - whether it's bagging groceries, cleaning toilets or pumping gas. Though I'm educated and do "brain work," I will never look down my nose at anyone for what they do. Anyone who works hard for a living deserves to feel proud of themselves.
