  • Need a new WALLET!!!

I've been trying to search for a good wallet and I can't seem to find the one I like.. I really like mine now but it's about to fall apart.... It's so bad I don't even know what brand it is.. So any of you recommend a particular wallet? I'm thinking about going checkbook style so I can keep up with the balancing right away rather then trying keep up with receipts but I don't know if I can have that in my back pocket all day.. If you guys could recommend any, that would be great! thanks..

Mine is more like a small money pouch, because I wanted one with a zippered pouch that can hold coins and my spare keys. That and my IDs and credit card is all I carry. It's about the size of a wallet but thinner overall.

Oh, and speaking of DIY wallets, here's an instruction on making a paper one. One person took a step further by printing grocery discount bar codes on it, and claimed that it works just as well as the original. Reinforce it with clear tape, and call it a day.

I'm a woman who doesn't carry a purse, but instead I carry a zippered leather checkbook that I got on ebay for a very good price. I love it and it fits well in my back pocket, but I think it looks rather feminine- kind of like a clutch.

I use to just carry a regular checkbook from Wilsons, but things like drivers license and credit cards would constantly fall out when I pulled it from my pocket, which is why I no longer carry that style (zipper good!). From some of the financial forums I've read, I thought I was the only one still carrying a checkbook around.

As far as security, I don't think you're going to be able to beat a wallet with everything folded safely inside.

i don't usually care for women's wallets as there are too many complicated compartments and my main priority is being able to get to my bills quickly. So i usually go with a man's wallet and you can see at a glance what you've got.

flylady.net sells a very simplified wallet which I bought. Gives you all of the things you mentioned. Is flat, can hold some ID card, zippered area, and an area for ones. I like it.

Funny, because the one I have is originally in the women's purse aisle. I had to get a plain black one so it doesn't look too girlie.

I had my purse stolen at work 2 yrs ago and ever since I've carried a man wallet. (Hubby hates it!LOL) I bought it from Lillian Vernon and it's really thin I think I paid like 3 bucks for it. I love it because I know if somebody is gonna try and steal it they are going to have to get it off me first.

I bought a ladies wallet at Ross for $8.99 that has a calculator in it. I love having a calculator handy to figure out the tip at restaurant, compare prices at the store when unit prices aren't available, etc etc etc.

The down side is that it's a little bulky adn won't wit in a small purse. Luckily big purses are in this year :-)

Here's my heads up to wallet seekers. Tonight I saw a table in Walgreens with wallets. I think they were all men's, but did not really look them over much. The things that impressed me quickly were that they were leather and thin. Thin is one of my priorities in a wallet.

I don't care whether mine is sold as a men's or womens, I just want it to be compact and have a secure holder for coins. But usually men's wallets won't hold coins securely. I need a compact wallet to fit in a pocket. Living in the inner city and walking to the store, I prefer to keep my wallet on me, not in a snatch-able purse. (Not that I've ever had a problem.)

I have an organizer for the calculator part, i use that to keep track at where i am at in spending at the store, I dont bother calc'ing tips anymore. When i go out, nothings real expensive here, Most my meals got to with 3 kids, myself and my mom visiting was 36 dollars at mccormicks. I always leave a dollar a person. 5 dollars isnt a bad tip even at 36 dollars i think. I always hand tips to the waitress' too. I call them to the table and explain i dont like to leave them on the table. Ive seen tips get stollen by others, and the waitress is the one working herself to the bone, so I make sure they take it before i leave the table. Been there done that kind of job. Still do in a way, being a mother of four, always grabbing or prepping something for someone.lol just no pay check involved or tips either.lol. I even feel so much for them, that i try to clean up our table a bit b4 leaving also, stacking dishes and putting straw wraps and napkins in one pile.

I have a personal penchant for my George Costanza style oversized wallet. Without it, I feel naked.
