Does anyone do their own home repairs? Is there a good book that I should check out of the library for it?

I have a bathroom that has the flooring peeling up from the edges and needs to be replaced. I got an estimate and they want $500 (which I don't have) to do it. I was wondering if this would be something that I could do myself or not.

Wow! Didn't realize it cost that much. My son-in-law redid my bathroom. It cost $2000, but that included gutting it down to the studs. There was no green board, so we had to take the old stuff & put it in. New floor including the sub floor.

Otherwise, I pay someone to do my work. They only charge $12 per hour plus the cost of material. Maybe you can look for a handyman that will charge less?

You can also go down to your local home improvement store. A lot of them now offer basic classes for free on how to do repairs such as laying tile along with free information brochures.
