  • Ceiling Fan Blade Duster

For the first time in my life, I have ceiling fans in my home. I want to buy a tool to dust the blades. [They are too high to reach using a step stool.] Does anyone use a tool that they recommend? Any tools that I should stay away from?

I don't mind paying for a tool, and I'm not looking for the cheapest available model. I just want to make sure it's a good tool that I won't regret spending my money on.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Mine is a broken furniture duster that I duct taped onto an old broom handle at a 90 degree angle. It cost me nothing.

I have an 8 foot and a ten foot ladder ,depending on which room I am in I take one of the ladders and a wet cloth,I use to use paper towels and Windex but since I have become a cheapas... frugal , I use a wet rag and wipe down the blades rinsing the rag as needed
I wipe the side that shows first then the edges then I do the top
the reason I use a rag is it catches all the dust and grime instead of scattering it into the air

so the tool i suggest is a good sturdy ladder it will also make changing light bulbs easier too if your fans have lights

        I'm with Simpleyme,
Nothing beats a damp rag and a ladder.
But, the fuzzy duster on a broomstick works well too.
Do NOT waste your money on a "fan blade cleaner".

We're much too frugal to fall for THAT one. (again)

Yep, the wet rag thing works best.

if you are ...lax (like me), and it has been to long, try a pillow case...put it over the blade, scrape down and keep most of the dust in the case.

Take outside turn inside out, shake, then wash (inside out)

follow up with a damp rang of course.

okay a funny not so funny story about a dirty ceiling fan......

my old Uncle died and my Aunt held a memorial for him at her home,we are all siting in her living room on folding chairs while people get up one at a time talking about uncle

its hotter than heck and the air conditioning is not keeping up ,50 people in the house the doors opening and closing, so Aunt turns on the ceiling fan it does no good someone else says flick the button on top to make it spin the other way a tall person flicks the button, she flicks the fan back on and hair and fluff spins off the fan onto every one in our hair on our Sunday best ,it was oddly pretty funny

That is a pretty funny story. It is hard to believe all the dust that collects on the blades.

I found a penny on my blades one time. I never did figure out how it got up there.
