His talk show airs tonight at 8 on Fox Business Channel. Anyone going to tune in? I wish I could but I don't have cable. I would love to have my husband tune in.

I wish, too. Our local cable provider doesn't carry Fox Biz... not yet, anyway. Dave Ramsey is the only reason I would bother watching that channel; I really enjoy his radio broadcast when I catch it, despite our religious differences.

      I am!

That's 8pm eastern time/7pm central. DirecTV airs the new channel on 359.

Sorry, I can't stand him. He does give good advice but he reminds me of a big mouth type that you want to get away from ASAP. No offense meant, he just isn't my cup of tea.

some of his stuff is ok but putting money in an envelope is not one of them. if you are trying to save money, then put it in an online bank that pays a higher interest rate than your local bank and let it earn interest. after a while you will see why the envelope doesnt make sense

Well, I do think there is a place for the physical envelopes, especially for those who are setting up and fine-tuning their budget. Most will eventually evolve to something that better suit their budgeting style, but some continue to use as it remains an effective method for budgeting.

Please remember that envelopes isn't normally a way to save money (which I agree should be in a savings account to earn some interest). It's a way to budget, and there's no rule saying that you can't have both.

I have an online savings account for saving the envelopes are for day to day expenses like groceries, gas, etc...

I am very visual and a little lazy about tracking expenses, if I use a debit or credit card for these type things I tend to overspend so I kept the envelopes (and a credit card)

I think different folks need different systems to get them and keep them on track. Dave Ramsey offers one system that works for certain people. Personally, I don't agree with some of what he says, like not using credit cards, for example. But I don't know that I've found any finance gurus who I agree with 100%.

The wife and I watched DR on Fox Biz for the first time last night. She listens to his radio show all the time and we agree on his advice (except for the credit cards), but I found his tv show to be somewhat visually boring. It's no different than his radio show except there is a camera trained on him. I actually turned the channel to the Democratic debate (then proceeded to fall asleep ).
