I will go against the grain and say Lands End towels. We bought my son one for Kindergarten (nap time) and that was 7 years ago and it still looks new. It is red and the color hasn't bled.

JC Penney also did well in tests. I do purchase Lands End towels but I usually go to the overstocks page and purchase from there.

I vote for JC Penney as well. As others have already said, wait for a sale. Another good thing about vinegar is at least using it the first time when you wash the towels. It sets the color and especially for the darker towels.

we bought our bed sheets from Overstock and they are REALLY nice. That is probably a good suggestion too - as far as finding the deal.

Well I am thankful for all of the suggestions too.

herm4: I got that tip about the vinegar from a place called Anna's Linens. They have very good prices too. Anyway, I was buying burgundy towels and was concerned with them bleeding in the water and the manager and another lady said the same thing about the vinegar.

                How prolong life of towels...

So, they would last that long (7 years), how often do you wash them? I can't imagine them looking as new after 7 years.

                Any tips?
