There has never been a transaction fee with my ATM. If there was I probably wouldn't use it either. With credit unions you can pretty much use any credit union and pay no fee. So I got the convenience of going about anywhere with no fees.

I used to use an ATM pretty regularly when I didn't have my credit cards. But, I don't use ATMs really anymore. Only when I need cash.

DH uses his all the time. He likes dealing in cash, so he withdraws a little spending money every week.

His bank reimburses ALL ATM fees, so he's really spoiled. He goes to any ATM no matter the fee.

being able to withdraw money any time you want, avoiding queues in the bank!
So how do you get cash out of your account?

I think I've walked into a Bank about 3 or 4 times in the past decade. I try to do as much as possible via eletronic banking and ATM's..

I don't. I rarely ever use cash. I pay for everything possible with my "cash back credit card". I do keep a little cash on hand but i get that when I am checking out at Walmart (where I shop every week). I just push the little button on the screen for cash back.

If you don't need to withdraw cash and you don't need to make deposits, you wouldn't have much use for an ATM. Personally, I get a lot of checks. My paycheck every 2 weeks and at least 6 or 8 surveys/month, so 10 or so checks to deposit. Much easier to do it at the ATM than inside.

I also have lots of checks to deposit from all the surveys I do, but I use the drive up Teller service. So, I don't have to get out of the car either. Maybe the ATM is quicker?

I just cash my survey checks and add them to my other coupon savings, rebates, found money, etc. I then deposit the cash at the end of the month at one time.

My husband doesn't like ATM's to use as debit cards. He also has to deposit checks in person. He was told by our branch manager to press the credit key rather than the debit key and that would be safer than inputting your pin numbers there for someone to get a hold of.

Anytime I go to the bank, the drive up teller seems to have a line. I've often wondered what people are doing that couldn't be done at the ATM where there is never a line. And, of course, the ATM is open 24/7. I usually go on the weekend or in the evening when the bank isn't open for business.

My bank (a credit union) has the option to scan your checks into your account from your computer, so you don't even have to get out of your jammies anymore to make a deposit.

That is crazy I wish my bank had that option. It is a pain to find time to deposit the checks.
