  • The cost of couponing

I spend $56-$72/per year on coupons.
I spend 3-4 hrs per week clipping, mailing sorting coupons.
    Postage is $4-8/month.
Organizing costs have run me $40 so far.
Going out of my way to shop has cost me $50+ between July 2006-June2007.

    Sum
    $(72
    +72
    +90)
    ____
    $234.00

(Money saved : at least $1800/yr, going by the national expenditure statistics.)

I,however, havent splurged because I was saving.

I dont spend more than $100/mo on groceries. If I spend more, then its for gifts and guests.
I wonder how much other moms are spending per month.

I find myself going without things because coupons and sales could not be combined.
I hope that everyone reads the following.
Clipping Coupons - The Hidden Cost of Clipping Coupons

Please let me know how much you spend!

I'm interested in how much you actually saved rather than the national expenditure statistics.

I understand! If I could get unlimted coupons doubled to a dollar, I would do it, for sure. But I've been realizing the same thing as you, and went back to buying the bulk of my groceries at Aldi's. Super cheap, and MUCH easier. I only use coupons now if it's an easy deal, and I can get LOTS of the product. Then, it's totally worth my time, and saves me a lot of money.

What do you do to get all your coupons. Buy lots of Sunday papers, Trade with friends? What's the best way?

          1. Trade
          2. buy papers
          3. look for hang tags
          4. look in packages
          5. print
          6. All of the above

          answer:
          all of the above

Your website is a lot like mine!

            SavingMakesSense dot com

I have some links on there of where I get coupons under 'Support this site". Ebay is a good source, too. If I want let's say, 20 of one coupon, it's totally worth it to pay someone else to get them, cut them, and sort them for me. Not to mention that my local paper doesn't get the good coupons, ever.

              you bet!!!
I have avery simple approach: I see the price.
I saw something marked down to 15 cents from $1.00.
I bought a dollars worth. no not the entire box, but a dollars worth.
              Aldi is my fave!

Up to $2?!!! You mean if you use a $2 coupon, they will double it to $4?!! Where in heaven do you live? I'm moving there!

I've never heard of Larry's Foodland! What/where is that?

I just read on aother board that Columbus Ohio Krogers are doing super doubles to a dollar this weekend. Sometimes the other Great Lakes Krogers do the same.

Herm, sure, I'll add a link. I need to add a page for links, anyway. I see your blog is a baby, just like my website.

Thats not what I meant, AmyKay: they double a coupon with a face value of $1 to $2.00. If its $1.65, then they will give you $2.00 off.

                            Please "google" Larry's foodland now!
Good luck on Kroger's super doubles.
