What's the longest period of time you've held a job?
And what was the shortest?
For me, the longest was just 7 years, as a writer for a financial services company that sold mutual funds and annuities. I stayed cus the $$ was great, but eventually my commute and the workload killed me.
The shortest was probably just a few months. I remember 2 small businesses that hired me, then let me go, not long after. At one of them, the owner was a demanding dictator who i later learned had a rep for hiring and firing employees like she was changing clothes. She was also freaking out cus she had 2 miscarriages and was desperate to get pregnant. I believe the deciding factor was that as a writer with no previous small business experience, i asked someone for help in preparing a package for FedEx, and she was pissed i didn't know how to do that.
At the other, she acknowledged i was a good writer but had other expectations she hadn't spelled out and didn't feel i was meeting them.
