How do you find a mechanic?

Trial and error.


The dealer may be more knowledgeable, but they likely have good & bad mechanics in the shop. You don't know which ones are going to work on your car.

I just wanted to add that mechanic departments at dealerships are totally separate business than the car dealership. They may be under a brand name and wearing the car brand name on their uniform but they do not work for the vehicle company. All the mechanic departments are under a different owner and really just a small shop owner.
Funny how it makes one believe the other way around.

But the mechanic at dealership centers honors warrantees that are bought from the dealerships.
