What types of books sell best on Half.com?

We have a TON of books donated for our rummage sale. We will be selling them for $.50 each but if I can get 2 or 3 or 4 times that much by listing some on half.com, I'd rather do that and donate the money back to the temple.

In your experience, what types of books sell best. Any certain authors, subjects, etc. that do particularly well?

Any advice would be appreciated, and as quickly as possible as the sale is next week and I want to pull aside anything that would likely do better online. Thanks.

Hardcover books? At least then the book is pretty much guaranteed to be in good condition.

Yes, I would only list the hardcovers, though I have a ton of paperbacks, too. I didn't think those were worth listing.

These are the books that I have gotten the best prices on:
- Really specialty cookbooks that may be out of print, and the pastry type books seem to do the best / Should be hardcover [If you see any by Colette Peters, especially her Christmas book which I realize is probably not going to happen at a synagogue, grab it!]
- Same thing for home decorating books [but again, should be really specialized, not mainstream]
- Books that look like may be assigned to college students as required reading (history, etc)
Mainstream bestsellers where there are probably tons available don't do so well.

Don't overlook CDs --- Mine have sold well, in all categories.

Don't know ... I listed only 2. Did so-so on one, and one hasn't sold yet many months later. If you have time, you may want to check the specific titles on half.com to see how many are available and how they are priced.

Do you have any textbooks? I've purchased and sold all of my textbooks through half.com or amazon.com, and made back every penny I've spent plus some (I usually sell in July/August before the students return to classes for the Fall).

If you have time , check what some of the books are selling for used .
You may have some surprises.
I listed books on ebay and was surprised that a photography book and painting book sold for much more than I had expected.
