Pay tithing, or 10% to a charitable cause (whatever your beliefs hold you to).
Pay 10% to savings.
Live within your means, well within!
Get out of debt if you have any.
Go for lasting joy, not for fleeting happiness. For instance, instead of getting high buying the latest gizmo, find joy spending time with your loved ones.

You gotta word this better but when I hear "I saved 40$ on this new gadget" I always want to point out you spent 60%...which is not saving...
Saving is putting money away in a safe spot..bank lock box, or freezer. Not spending less than intended...
Seems to me the English language has those two different actions labeled with the same name to benefit big business...It's a conspiracy! (kidding, I do not have any conspiracy theory's, no opinion on black helicopters, nor do I like the catcher in the rye)

1. Live below your means.
2. If you can't pay cash or pay the credit card bill in full, you can't afford the purchase.
3. Save at least 10% of your income.
4. Learn the difference between wants and needs and keep the wants to a minimum.

2. Make a plan (budget) to allocate yur earnings.
3. Only buy what you have already saved or allocated to your purchase.
4. Search out lower costs on cellphones, telephone plans, cable or satelite,
life insurance, all types of insurance, internet, and lower loan rates.
