We haven't owned a TV our entire marriage (4+ years) and we haven't missed a thing.

TV just went out - what do you do?

I apologize I didn't see your mention of digital signals in the first post - hehe. I scanned the other posts and was surprised no one mentioned. Probably because you did.
But I have to agree with the others overall that you don't have to go big plasma to get a digital signal. You can find a less expensive digital tv for sure.

It depends on which TV goes out. I've been saving for a new TV for the family room because we bought ours in 1993 and with the new changes coming, I would probably buy one.
On the other hand, the TV in my bedroom just quit and I'm not anxious to replace it. We have another TV in another room.

Well my answer is biased because we only use our TV for DVD movies at this time and the fact that we are newlywed couple with no children.
I would have waited until closer to 2009 for the plasma TV to go lower on prices (guilty here red handed but I want a plasma TV to take out the clunky TV and TV stand out of my small living room to give us a "bigger space". I have no urge because we are in the middle of doing a total renovation with the living room including the ceilings so no rush there. The less we watch movies now the faster the living room get's done eh!? In the mean time, I would have probably checked Craig list for a used TV for cheap.
If I had young children, I would 'assume' we probably try to replace the TV right away. We leave 45 min away from the closest town so movies can be a cheaper alternative than a daily outing during the rainy winter season.

We already have a TV fund since we're expecting our TV to go out soon, so my situation doesn't really apply to yours. But if I were in your situation, I would buy a lower priced CRT style digital for around the $250-$300 that was found previously in this thread.

Well, I found a 32" LCD for about $500 but it's made by "Insignia" and when I checked epinions.com for insignia TVs, there were a LOT of bad reviews.
In other news, I found out that my TV is not broken! Yeah! Go 20 year old technology!! The cable box is broken so I just need to get a new one of those
