  • Hot Water Tank

Our hot water tank has about two years of life left in it and I've decided to start saving up for a new one now. My question is has anyone used an on demand or tankless hot water heater? I know that the initial outlay is more money, but I wonder if it has been worth it in regards to it reducing the electric bill? And have you been happy with your choice or do you wish you'd gotten a regular hot water tank?

I don't have one in my current house, but I had on when I lived in Europe and I loved it. You never had to worry about running out of hot water, and they are MUCH more efficent used of energy. I say do your research and go for it. When it is time to replace mine, that is the route I am going.

My husband has installed two on demand hot water heaters. The large one for both bathrooms and laundry room and a small one for the kitchen.

We love it!!! I especially love the small one for the kitchen because I really hate wasting water by letting it run and waiting for it to get hot.

Has it save us with the electric bill? I can not say because my husband handle the bill but I doubt we saved much only because prior to the water heater installment, we could not last any longer than 5 minute tops before the hot water run out in the showers. Now I notice we been taking longer showers (we are extremely dirty after home improvement of mud/sands and landscaping) so I guess this would depends on your behavior of using water before and after the on demand water heater installments.
