I realize the term for this varies by parts of the country. I hear "yard sale" a lot here, but I really have only seen the term used in forums and very rural areas. So I was wondering what it's called in your neck of the woods.

ETA it's always been "tag sale" here and occasionally "garage sale"

In Cali I have always heard it as a garage sale (or I could have got that from my parents who are from the mid-west).

Yard sale I hear too.

Garage sale (more common years ago) and yard sale (more common nowadays) here in my corner of Pennsylvania. I've never seen a tag sale out here.

I've heard more garage sale though the trend is moving to yard sale, so that comes a close second. I say driveway sale would be where most of the merchandise is, but I don't think it will ever be called that.

No tag sales here in the midsouth. Yard/garage sale means virtually the same thing. Estate sales prices are generally higher.

a yardsale is what you call someone who loses their skis, poles, and other skiing apparel during a crash on the hill.

but seriously, it's a garage sale unless everything is out on the yard, then it's a yardsale.

I grew up with 'garage sales' and when I moved to the city, i notice the term yard sales were used more often. I think it is because of more apartments and condo's get together and do one large yard sales.

Tag sales, I only hear that term with shopping stores such as clothing stores when they do year end clearance and the such.

The only time I ever heard tag sale was when I lived in Massachusetts, I think outside of new england it's always a yard or garage sale
