First thing that popped in to my head when I saw the title of your post was "spend less than you make."

But really, Suze Orman's "Law" (with one slight variation) sums up my number one money rule best:

People (and Pets!) First
Then Money
Then Things

Not that there is a "right" or "wrong" here, but yeah, these two points are basically what I am thinking too.

This happens to hit home, as I am in fact..well anyway...guess I aught to add it to the list.
