I did my year end cash in for my money jar (I do it every 6 months) and came back with $121.53. WoooHoooo! That change really adds up.

Re: Cashed in money jar
I was wondering we have a cash jar, do you think we should cash it in or keep it or the next time we discover that we need money? So far we have used it to 'buy' bills of the kids, we give them quarters for real cash. Nothing more embarrasing than paying for groceries with a bunch of quarters!

Re: Cashed in money jar
I have a bank that I use to put change in. When I have any extra dollars (not too often, lately) they go in also. Sometimes I buy a savings bond with the money when I empty it out. That way, I'm less tempted to cash in for something silly.
I have some bonds saved now and am working towards new carpet for the bedroom. It will be put in soon, I hope!

Re: Cashed in money jar
for those that are saving money in a savings account you might want to check out ING direct as they offer 2.35% APY return while most local banks offer under 1% ... and if you want to get a free 25 for opening the account pm me with your name and email and i will send you an invite... you won't get the 25 without a refferal but even without the refferal ING is a great savings account as they offer the best return and it is FDIC insured up to 100K.
