  • church rummage sales..

my missionary mil, gave me a really nice sweater, she paid a dime for at a church sale last thanksgiving.... she lives in ky... so, we have been looking for a sale in ohio, in our area... low and behold on sat., we went to one at the methodist church and donated clothes.... the nice ladies told us to fill a bag for a dollar with clothes... i found a lovely pair of shorts, a yale sweatshirt, a ny knit top, a pretty sweater, and two other tops... so, i gave her a dollar... she encouraged me to fill my bag... and i said i did not have any use for anything else... so, i think i paid less than $0.17 for each item....if i had placed 10 items in the bag, i would have paid $0.10 for each item... and i tell you they were hardly used, a few had the tags on them.... what do you find at church sales, just curious, this was my first one...

It has been years since I have been to a church rummage sale. I think the last time I was there was before I was married. I picked up a slightly used clock radio which really came in handy! I think at the time I paid 2 dollars which was a steal.

What you find at these sort of sales varies from place to place and so it can be hit or miss!

when I was growing up, there was one right before Halloween. It was timed perfectly for Halloween costumes (my family was always on the creative side)

There's about 3 or so we go to every year. They do have bag days & depending on the church they are $2-5 a bag, usually the last day of the rummage. If you get their on one of the first days you can ask if they'll be having a bag day.

I agree they are hit or miss on prices & the quality of the stuff they have. One I can find crafty things at, but never much more. Another I can find some kids clothes at that are decent & they ask you to pay what you think is fair for the bag & the money goes to charity. And the other regular one they do really cheap bag days & even tell you to push the stuff down & fit more in *LOL* I've done ok there w/ kids clothes & household items.

I love church sales. I don't really need anything, so I haven't gone for years.

Yeah, rummage sales are cool. I love them. You can find some neat things including stuff you want to try but haven't wanted to spend full price for! I am excited because the rummage/garage season is starting

There's one rummage sale that happens at the local boy's Catholic high school. I used to go every year, then they started charging admission just to get in!

Although the lines are still hugely long and it appears that they sell great stuff, I've decided that it's against my beliefs to pay to get in. Oh well, I might be missing out on a lot, but maybe it's better I get rid of my excess stuff than buy more to squeeze in my tiny house.

We have a very popular resale event at a local church here. Each person has to price their own items, so it really varies. On the second day of the sale everything is 1/2 price. In the past I've been able to get an entire season's worth of clothes for both my kids for about $70.00 total. This year, however, I was disappointed in the selections for my 7 year old daughter, plus the prices on lots of the stuff was way too high ($6 and $7).

ooh, I love these so much! Hopefully, there will be a lot this spring and summer. I pick up lots of great seasonal decor, birthday/christmas gifts, and linens.
