i carpooled with High School friends when we were in college and it worked great for a semester or two until our schedules started diverging...
it worked really well because it allowed us to get a carpool parking pass for campus (cheaper and easier to get than the individual parking passes) and two of my friends alternated driving ... the 5 of us all lived within 10 minutes of each other and started at the same time in the morning so it was great...

i lived really close (5 min walk) to one of the other girls, who was also the driver on MWF's, so i would just walk over in the morning...it was very easy and just evolved naturally... it was a great way to get to school...

Nope! I live up in the mountains - an hour drive commute one way!... Since there are no stores within 17 miles of my home, I like to stop at the grocery stores if I need to on the way home. Besides - its very unlikey there is someone to carpool with from the mountains. I live in the SF Bay Area and most people do not know that people live in the mountains and work in the city. smile.

Nope, I live out in the country. There is only one other person who lives remotely near me, but she works FT and I work PT. I'm not sure I would carpool even if the hours worked out because I do quite a bit of driving for work and need to have a car available. Plus it's only about a 7 mile drive.

Nope, I take public transit instead! It's convenient 99% of the time (and I don't have to worry about paying obscene parking costs) but there's the occasional time I have to wait in a snowstorm for a bus to arrive for far, far longer than I'd like to!

I have in the past for a few years to college, work, etc...now I'm not working much outside the home but I would always be willing. If I lived where there was better public transportation I would take that and sell the car, but I'm limited with options.
