lol. Had to laugh at this solution. The kids were not helping around the house so the parents moved out and starting living in a tent in their front yard so the kids would have to do some of the work.

I think sometimes you have to go to extremes...my nephew goes through 6 changes of clothes per day....I have told my cousin she should only wash his school uniforms and inform him that, if he wants clean clothes, he should wash them himself!

My word! I wouldn't neccesarrily move out, but yes. stop washing more than neccessary, and where does he find enough clothes to wear that many in a day? My kids have about 6 changes in a week! (we do laundry every day here) Come to think of it I don't own 6 pairs of jeans! (but I could make up the difference in skirts if I wanted) Hey there is another argument that 'clutter' costs money. If he didn't have the clothes he wouldn't wear so many and the washer wouldn't be so busy.

LOL!...well, he likes to wear fresh pajamas everyday, then the school uniform, then sweat pants and t-shirt to go biking or hiking, then jeans and a t-shirt to go out and hand out with friends, then shorts and a t-shirt to hang out around the house....and, she has to do laundry every day because of this (it's only her and him at that house!)...so, I told her: just wash the uniforms, it IS your responsibility because it is school-related, but if he REALLY wants to wear all those other clothes, he should at least do the washing!

It would be to his benefit. If he doesn't learn, he's going to have a hard time when he is on his own and doesn't know how to wash.

LOl ! Yeah talking of the Barnards. Unusual protest but fun. Hoping more kids learn from it . Is always better training them from tiny tots, they'd get used to it when they grow up.

Maybe its me, but I can't see not being able to get my flesh and blood to cooperate. Somebody needs to explain to me how kids run things... I just don't get it. If I didn't do what my grandparents told me to do, they had a remedy and my backside didn't like their remedy and the mere threat of their remedy ALWAYS set me to do what they asked me to do. As I matured, they no longer had to ask, I already knew.

When I was raising foster children, same thing. My house, my rules! Do as I say- I'm not asking them to do anything that would endanger them. My Neices, Nephews---they all have responsibilites in terms of chores, cleanliness etc. I don't get that I can't get my kids to help around the house.

Darn sure wouldn't move out of my house and turn it over to them. The kids won for sure, they have the house and they are making the rules.

Depends on how old they are. If they are over 18, Let them know that they can find their own place to live. Don't mean to sound harsh but my mom has a 26 y/old w/ baby at home (no job), 24 y/d (no job) and a 19 y/old that will not life 1 finger.

The couple that we bought our house from were selling because their 20 something daughter had moved back home for the 3rd time! They bought a new townhouse in an adult only complex and you had to be 45 years old to live there! That's one way to get your adult children out of the house...
