I'm reading Suze Orman now. She's okay but not my cup of tea.. It has kept me motivated though to keep on paying my bills!

Re: Who is your favorite financial author?
Time Honored Wisdom=Bible.
Practical Wisdom=Mary Hunt & David Chilton
Financial Savy=Ric Edelman & Paul Erdman
Budget Butt Kicking=Dave Ramsey & David Bach
Metaphoric Writing=George Clason
Loan Looniness=Larry Burkett & Ron Blue
Most Annoying=Suze Orman (which is more about her 'know it all' onstage personality than her writing - to me.) She reminds me of a before-prison Martha Stewart. Prison seemed to do a 'humbling' on her that took off some of those holier than thou edges. YMMV!

Andrew Tobias, Jane Bryant Quinn, Susan Feitelberg, David Bach. Haven't read any of Jean Chatzky's books but I love what she writes for Money magazine.
Re Suze Orman - I've never read her books because by the time they came out the stuff she was writing I already knew. I do like her overall philosophy of "People First, Then Money, Then Things" very much.

Re: Who is your favorite financial author?
The Holy Bible - Book of Proverbs...The Financial Book of the Holy Bible - Author King Solomon
T D Jakes - Maximize the Moment...I learned a lot from this book and I keep rereading it
Suze Orman was one of my favorites and I still use her books for reference. I was just turned off by her when I heard her say to one of her callers on "Can I Afford This?" that this guy must be leasing a BMW cause he can't afford one. She said she herself could though. I said "How does she know what that man can afford or not since he wasn't the one calling into the show?" Sometimes she sounds too self-righteous to me.

I agree that the Bible has time honored wisdom.
I also like Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren. I read her book All Your Worth .
She has common sense and she is down to earth.
I have never read Suzi Ormans books, but I watch her TV show and enjoy and learn from it.
She can be a real drama queen, but so can Nancy Grace when it comes to crime, but both women have a lot to share.

You're absolutely correct....real drama queens LOL....I watch Nancy Grace every night and I have learned a lot from her as well. I have to stop making judgments and take from the shows what I feel is in my best interest(s).

David Bach.
Suze Orman is really patronizing. The entire "Young, Fabulous, and Broke" book was about her saying she was so smart. People may learn from her, but I'd rather learn from someone who is not so self-righteous.
Nancy Grace gets most of her 'facts' wrong. As long as you take these women with a grain of salt, you'll be fine.

Re: Who is your favorite financial author?
I had forgotten about Andrew Tobias and we don't wan't to forget to include Joe Domingez (sp?) of "Your Money Or Your Life" fame or Amy D. of the Tightwad Gazette trilogy!
I'd almost have to be with Paul - it is hard to decide.
